Mary Foston English

Commissioner, EACC

Mary Foston-English is a dedicated Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, currently in Private practice, with 35+ years of experience as a culturally responsive psychotherapist providing individual, couples, and family therapy. Skilled in various therapeutic modalities
such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Systems Focused Therapies, Mary offers compassionate support for clients dealing with anxiety, depression, addiction, PTSD, and relationship challenges. Mary retired from Stanford University in 2023 with
Emeriti status for the exceptional work she did in their internal Employee Assistance Program. Her Stanford retirement led to her co-founding The Next Level, LLC that specializes in providing Employee Assistance services to athletic organizations, performers and athletes. She is a Certified Employee Assistance Professional with EAPA and is a new commissioner with EAPA’s EACC.

In addition to her clinical work, Mary provides consultation to organizations and teams, delivering customized trainings on topics including DEIB/JEDI and her innovative EMBRACE© Model of Conflict Management. She is a Qualified Administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory who can administer the inventory, interpret the results and support individuals and groups in developing their customized plan to become culturally competent. When not working, Mary enjoys spending time with family and friends traveling, soul line dancing, watching theatrical performances and attending sporting events.
