The Two Dials of Escalation: How to Give Difficult Feedback and
De-Escalate Tense Situations
What is Presented?
In the workplace, it is easy to recognize the importance of knowing how to de-escalate situations when they become tense. However, it is equally important to know how to escalate things when necessary. That is, having the skills to voice concerns, give feedback, and address difficult situations, but to do so in a way that preserves relationships, invites collaboration, and improves overall team effectiveness.
In this two-part interactive workshop, we will explore both sides of this equation. We will learn how to both voice concerns and give feedback, and also how to de-escalate situations when the temperature gets too high. These skills can be applied directly to EAP work, and also passed on to clients to help them grow their skillset.
