Who Presents?

About the Presenter: Dr. John Bruno

Dr. John Bruno has served as a subject matter expert on Autism and Neurodiversity through workshops, consulting, program development, and national and international conference presentations.  He co-authored the Journal of Employee Assistance’s “The New Imperative of Neurodiversity in the Workplace: What EAPs and Employers need to know” 1st quarter of 2024 edition.  His presentation by the same name was well received during the 2024 EAP Conference in Indianapolis.  Dr. Bruno received his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and was professor at various higher education programs including Florida State University.  

Learning Objectives

Session 1-Demystifying Autism and Neurodiversity (ND) in the Workforce

  3. Describe effective strategies for supporting Neurodiverse workers

Session 2-Strategies for Counselors to support the Neurodiverse: Train the Trainers

Participants will be able to:

  1. Identify Key Elements related to adults with Autism
  2. Describe the relationship of Joint Attention, Emotional Regulation, and Anxious behavior.
  3. Implement strategies for creating effective tools for the Neurodiverse

Session 3-Helping Coworkers better understand and support their Neurodiverse colleagues

Participants will be able to:

  1. Define Autism and Neurodiversity
  2. Discuss key elements in case studies describing common workplace struggles
  3. Create tools to help coworkers better understand their Neurodiverse Co-Workers
